Green line on your Samsung screen? Here's what it means.
Why Galaxy screens get green or pink lines, and how to fix it.

A thin green, pink or white line running top to bottom on a Samsung Galaxy screen is almost always a hardware fault in the AMOLED panel, not a software bug.
It usually starts after a drop, a squeeze in a back pocket, heat, or sometimes just age. Moisture can cause it too. The line often appears first, then more lines or a dark patch follow over days or weeks.
Try this first: restart the phone, then boot into Safe Mode (hold the power-off option until Safe Mode appears). If the line is still there in Safe Mode and on the lock screen, it's the screen, not an app.
A software update won't fix a line that's caused by a damaged panel. If the line came right after an update and nothing else changed, take it to us for a free check before you pay for anything.
The fix is a screen replacement. On most Galaxy S models the screen comes fused to the frame, so we replace the whole front assembly. That's also why Samsung screens cost a bit more than you might expect.
After the repair, you'll need to register your fingerprint again, because the fingerprint sensor sits under the screen.
Don't wait too long. Once a panel starts failing it usually gets worse, and a spreading dark patch can make it hard to back up your phone. Back it up now while you can still see the screen.
Most Samsung screens are replaced in about an hour. Use the quote tool for your exact model's price.
