Apple Store or local repair shop? Where to fix your iPhone in Newmarket
If your iPhone is still under warranty or AppleCare+, go to Apple first. If it's out of warranty, you want it back today, it isn't an iPhone, or the problem is on the board, a local shop is usually faster and gives you more options. Here's how to decide.

You have two good options in Newmarket
Newmarket has an Apple Store inside Upper Canada Mall on Yonge Street, and our Wireless4U store is a few minutes away at Davis and Yonge. Both fix iPhones. They work in different ways, and the right one depends on your phone and your problem.
When Apple is the better call
- Your iPhone is under warranty or AppleCare+. If the repair is covered, or costs only the AppleCare+ fee, Apple is the cheaper choice. Check your coverage at checkcoverage.apple.com.
- You want Apple parts with Apple's records. Apple installs its own parts and logs the repair on your phone. That matters to some people when they sell the phone later.
- It's a recall or a known Apple program. Apple sometimes fixes known problems for free. Ask them first.
When a local shop is the better call
- You want it back today without an appointment. Most screen, battery and charging port repairs at our Newmarket store are done while you wait. You can walk in or book ahead online.
- It's a Samsung, Pixel, iPad or laptop. Apple only fixes Apple devices. We fix all of them.
- The problem is on the board. A dead phone, a charging chip, Face ID or a water-damaged board often gets a whole-phone replacement elsewhere. We do board-level repair and data recovery in store, so you can keep your phone and your photos.
- You want to choose the part. We show you the options and the price before we start, and you pick. Read OEM vs aftermarket screens to see the difference.
Questions to ask any repair shop
Wherever you go, ask these before you hand over your phone. What part are you using? Is there a warranty, and for how long? Will my data be touched? How long will it take? A good shop answers all four without hesitating.
If a shop uses a non-Apple screen or battery, your iPhone may show a "Parts and Service History" message in Settings. It's normal and the phone still works. Here's what that message means.

Questions
Is a local repair cheaper than Apple?
Out of warranty, usually yes, and you often get a choice of parts at different prices. Under AppleCare+, Apple is usually cheaper. You get our price before any work starts.
Will a local repair void my Apple warranty?
Apple won't cover damage caused by a third-party repair, and it may decline to work on a phone with non-Apple parts. If your phone is still under Apple warranty, check with Apple first.
Do you fix iPhones Apple said to replace?
Often, yes. Many board problems that get a whole-phone replacement can be fixed with board-level repair. Bring it in for a free assessment.
